WHY wont my 3D Home Design software (Win 2k) work for Vista Home Premium?

Backwoods Cutie asked:

I have half a dozen 3d design programs (for win 2000) they are like CAD, to build houses and landscape. they are different brands, and they all do it. (Exept Plan3D. That runs straight off the web) i can get them to initiate and load onto my laptop (2007 hp pavillion dv6000) with Windows Vista Home Premium. Then it just dissapears. What gives? Why wont these programs run? how can i fix this?
thanks, mike. If my laptop was made with vista, is there any way to run xp?

This is a known problem with backwards compatibility. In their rush to get Vista to market, their “improvements” broke a lot of things. There are a lot of programs that will not work with Vista.

In short, Vista is a bloated and buggy piece of crap. If you can, try going back to Windows XP.
