CAD and Fluid Dynamics software?
capitalism4ever asked:
Is there any CAD software that is really easy to use and has some primitive fluid dynamics software built into it?
I need it to be cheap and easy to use.
I am trying to design a car and make it aerodynamic.

One Response to “CAD and Fluid Dynamics software?”
I don’t know “cheap engineering software”, but I can give you advice about possibilities of software you can use.
1) You can get a separate CAD and CAE applications. First for design, and the second for the aerodynamics tests.
2) You can get integrated CAD/CAE system. (I suppose that it would be more expensive).
But usually, even if have separate systems, the CAE software has integration into the CAD app.
The CAD systems are 3 main types.
- Low class - there is 2D and 3D non parametric design, and that’s all. It’s quite simple to use it but it takes a lot of time if you try to make model changes later. (AutoCAD, Vero Visi, etc…)
- Mid class - It has parametric modeling and it’s working mostly in 3D and if you change some size it automatically updates all drawings. It’s more expensive, but more effective. Usually there is additional CAE module. (Autodesk Inventor+Ansys, Solid Edge+Femap, Solid Works+Cosmos, Pro Engineer, etc…)
- Hi class - It is all in one product. You can use it from simple drawings to space shuttles or submarine engineering. I just can say that even if you spend to learn one of the following products all of your life - you couldn’t learn it all. (NX, CATIA, I-deas…)
I hope that my answer is useful.
